A FUN-draiser!

A FUN-draiser!

This past week was a busy week for The Cake Mom.

A few months ago I was contacted by the Discovery Playhouse in Cape Girardeau, MO to be a sponsor for their 2nd annual FUN-draiser!

The theme of the FUN-draiser was Dr. Seuss, so they asked me to make Thing 1 and Thing 2 cupcakes.

250 cupcakes!

The cupcakes were white cake with red swirls.

It took 5 full sheet cake boxes to transport all of the cupcakes!

Thing 1 and Thing 2!

I do want to say that the original inspiration for these cupcakes came from Good Life Eats blog.  Also, the volunteers for the Discovery Playhouse cut out the labels and also attached them to the cupcakes!  Thank you so much!

Here are a few photos (from my cell phone) of my kids playing at the Discovery Playhouse Children’s Museum.

This is the grocery store, my favorite!

The big fire truck.  I believe there is now a water garden where this was sitting.

My daughter of course loved the puppies, but in the background you can see the bank.

The bank even has a working pneumatic bank tube, which is lots of fun!

“Hello, hello. Are you there?
Hello! I called you up to say hello.
I said Hello.
Can you hear me, Joe?
Oh no, I cannot hear your call.
I cannot hear your call at all.
This is not good, and I know why.
A mouse has cut the wire, goodbye!”

  1. I am looking to make some for my kids 1at birthday but have no clue how to go about it. I saw the original on Good Life Eats as well but they don’t mention how they made them. Would you mind sharing what kind if tip you used for the blue frosting. Sorry if it’s a silly question but I’m not a Baker.

    Thanks in advance.
