We offer custom cakes for many occasions, from traditional tiered cakes to sculpted works of edible art. A cake from The Cake Mom & Co. is not an ordinary cake, and we are not priced to be in competition with any local supermarket, bakery, or cake lady. We provide one-of-a-kind cakes that are tailor made to be custom for your event.
Each custom cake’s price will vary depending on size, detail, intricacy & complexity of your desired design. Minimum of 30 servings required for all custom cake orders. For custom cakes, we have a $275 minimum for all orders. Shaped, carved and 3D cakes have a minimum starting price of $500.00. Again, as with all custom cakes the price will vary depending on size, detail, intricacy & complexity. We also offer basic cupcakes for $35.00 per dozen, 1 flavor per dozen with large cake orders. Cupcakes with special designs or details are priced via a quote. On rare occasion, we will post cupcake sample boxes on our Facebook page at a discounted price. These sales are not our normal pricing, but a fun way for customers to try new flavors! **Our prices are subject to change at any time**
Sheet cakes are only offered with a large custom cake order, like a wedding. Why? We pride ourselves on creating one-of-a-kind works of art, so no, we do not offer “basic” cakes as part of our custom cake offerings because that’s just not our style. We work closely with you to make sure each piece of edible art is unique to your personality and style. We want your custom cake to be the centerpiece of your event.
Our Paducah, Kentucky location now has the option for pre-designed cakes at set prices. These cakes are not considered custom. The designs cannot be changed, however, you may change certain aspects of each cake such as name, number, sprinkle options and color of icing. Each form will reflect the changes that can be made. You can view them here: PRE-DESIGNED CAKES
Unfortunately, at this time we do not offer gluten-free cakes or cakes for special dietary needs. We cannot guarantee that cross contamination will never occur. You should always advise us of any special dietary requirements, including intolerance’s and allergies upfront when placing an inquiry.
Your cake should be ordered as soon as you have finalized all of the details of your event (colors, theme, design, amount of servings, etc.). Since we are usually booked a few weeks (or sometimes earlier) in advance, we do encourage you to order early. 4-6 weeks notice is usually recommended, but we are happy to fit you in when our schedule permits. We do require a minimum of 2 weeks notice for all cake orders. This allows us time to order any necessary supplies for your cake and to make any specialty decorations in advance. If you try to order later than 2 weeks, we can not guarantee date availability. With less than 2 weeks notice we may not be able to create your design as sometimes certain designs require toppers and handmade items be made in advance, and supplies to be ordered and shipped in. We specialize in handmade edible art, so people who book with us are usually planning parties and events well ahead of time, not at the last minute. We love our customers, and would be honored to create a custom cake for you. But don’t be mad at us if you wait until the last minute, or want a “simple cake”, because we are booked. We take as many orders as we can fit in with our already busy schedules.
There are 2 ways to order! You can go to our online inquiry page and fill out the form, or you may email us at thecakemom@gmail.com. Orders are NOT taken via phone, text message, or social media direct message. We require a written record of all communication, contracts, as well as images, etc. The phone number on our site is for paying customers who have already placed and paid for their order, and who may need to get in touch. We take inquiries by email or via our online inquiry form only. After your inquiry is received we will email you back with any questions we have and give you a quote. Once you receive a quote, you will then need to tell us that you intend to complete the order and fill out our online order form (which we will provide a link for). Also to complete the order you will need to pay either the 50% non-refundable retainer for orders over $100, or for cupcake orders under $100, payment is due in full at the time the order is placed.
Yes! We love to work closely with our customers to get the custom designs they want. If you have an inspiration cake photo (or Pinterest board!) or a specific design in mind, please feel free to include that when ordering. We try hard to not duplicate other decorators’ designs, but will do our best to keep the essence of the design you want.
We offer tastings for wedding cakes and very large cake orders. Cake tastings are by appointment only. Tastings are $60 in advance (not including taxes/fees). Tastings include up to three flavors of cake along with our freshly-made buttercream. Additional flavors, icings, or fillings are $5 each. Tastings should be scheduled at least two weeks in advance. We ask that you bring no more than 4 total people to the cake tasting. Any more than that, and you may not have enough cake to share. We also consider your tasting a time to sit and chat with you and learn about what you are really looking for in a custom cake. Too many people at the tasting can interfere with this as well.
Our cake flavor options include the following:
*Some cake flavors and fillings may be subject to an additional charges. Please let us know upfront what flavors and fillings you may want added to your order. If you wait and add certain flavors or fillings to your final order form, you will forfeit your quote and we will have to give you a new updated quote to reflect these changes. Please note that by law, we cannot do fresh fruit fillings or perishable icings, like for example cream cheese icing.
The simple answer is no. We are a home-based cottage food business and do not schedule face-to-face meetings, with the exception of paid wedding cake tastings. As both of our cake artists are busy mothers it is hard to schedule meetings face-to-face with clients. We have found in the past that people will schedule free consultations and then not order after we have rearranged our schedules to accommodate their needs, so it is something we no longer offer. We also do not have baked goods ready to go. All of our orders are custom for each individual client. To view our work you may look at our Facebook page, Instagram feed, or Pinterest albums.
We will review your submission and get back to you during our normal working hours. Sometimes it can take 2-3 days to hear from us depending upon how busy we are. Custom cake quotes take time, and we cannot just give you a price off the top of our heads. There are countless hours of researching designs, techniques, and supplies before we can begin to give you a quote. Please be patient.
Your order is not completed after the quote is sent to you, and your date is not reserved just because we sent you a quote. We do not take orders on the good faith that you will pay after we have invested large amounts of money and numerous hours into your order.
After you receive a quote, we will ask you if you wish to proceed with the order and attach a link to an online order form. After the order form is filled out and we receive it, we will then send you a link to pay your 50% non-refundable retainer that then reserves your date. You will also be asked to sign a contract either online or at time of delivery/pick-up. Once we have your retainer and signed contract, you will be put in our calendar and your order is booked.
Yes. We require a 50% non-refundable retainer to book your order. If you have not paid your balance in full two (2) weeks prior to your event for all special occasion cake orders and four (4) weeks prior to your event for all wedding cake orders, you forfeit your deposit, and risk not being accommodated.
Remember when we told you to book as soon as your event details are finalized? There would be no way for us to go back and get all of the customers we said no to, to back-fill YOUR SPOT if you decide to cancel your order. Your retainer ensures availability and we manage our entire production schedule based on YOUR ORDER.
We first require you to fill out an inquiry form, or email to get the process started. We do not take orders over the phone or by text message or direct message via social media. We have a very strict policy on this. Once you have emailed us and we have discussed the details of your event and decide on a custom cake design that you like, we will send you a quote. If you are interested in booking with us, and would like to proceed with the order we require that you fill out our online order form. After we receive your order form, we will then send you an invoice via Square where you may pay your 50% non-refundable retainer. The 50% non-refundable retainer is required to reserve your date. The remaining balance must be paid in full two (2) weeks prior to your event for all custom special occasion orders, and four (4) weeks prior to your event for all wedding cake orders. The balance and deposit are non-refundable and non-transferable, meaning that you can NOT cancel one date and then change it for another. Orders under $100.00, are required to be paid in full at time of order to reserve your date and are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Our Paducah, KY location accepts payments online through Square or Cash only. Square is normally used so that we can ensure that all payments are made on time, and it is convenient for everyone involved.
Our Kelso, MO location accepts payments via Credit, Debit, Check, or Cash.
Yes! Delivery and setup is highly suggested for all cakes over 2 tiers, and may be required for some cakes based on the design. Delivery is the best way to ensure that your custom creation makes it safely to your event. We also carry a bag of emergency cake supplies in case anything goes wrong.
Please note: Additional charges will apply for delivery outside of the city limits of Paducah, Kentucky.
Pickup is available for all orders and limited delivery is available within Paducah, Kentucky for a fee starting at $40. Delivery to surrounding counties is on a limited basis. When inquiring we will need to know your exact venue address so the delivery charge can be factored into your quote.
If you decide that you would like to save on the delivery fee, you may come pick your cake up.
We suggest that when picking up a cake, to drive a vehicle with air conditioning and a place where the cake can sit on a flat surface out of the sun. Most car backseats are not considered a flat surface as they all have a slight angle.
Upon arrival, you will be required to sign a waver stating that you know the risks of driving a cake. We will not be responsible for any damages to the cake after it is in your possession. We take numerous photos to ensure that the cake is of superior quality when handing it off to the customer. Cake pick-up is done at your own risk.
A 50% non-refundable retainer is due at time order is placed. Your balance is due in full two (2) weeks prior to your event for special occasion cakes, and four (4) weeks prior to your event for wedding cake orders. If an order is not picked up on the date you have placed on your order form/contract or delivery is denied, the client is still responsible for the full balance of the custom cake order. We will make every attempt to contact you in the event of a missed pick-up or denied delivery. If a cancellation is made less than one week prior to your event, the balance is still due in full.
*Please understand that when you book an order, we decline other orders to accommodate your order.
In the event of cancellation:
1. All requests for cancellation must be made in writing via email. No phone calls or texts.
2. If a cancellation is received, your retainer will not be refunded under any circumstances. No matter how sad the story. We have bills to pay, and by reserving your date we are saying no to other potential customers.
3. If a cancellation is received less than one (1) week prior to the promised delivery/pick-up date, the full balance is still the client’s responsibility.
Simply put, no. If you are placing an order with The Cake Mom & Co. then you are asking us to create you a custom work of art. We pride ourselves in our edible artwork, and the time we invest into each and every creation. We cannot in good faith create a cake with our name on it and then add someone else’s edible designs to the cake. We would not want poor quality work to reflect back on us and the hard work we have invested over the years to sharpen our skill set. This includes edible items purchased online from stores like Etsy. We also do not have time to track you down to obtain decorations you have purchased elsewhere.
*The only exception to outside edible designs would be items that are copyrighted and need to be printed with edible ink on edible image paper. We would usually order this, unless it is something you already have. For plastic figures that are not edible, we do let customers supply those. We would not usually need a non-edible decoration while making the cake, unless it is something that we would need to see in person because the size of the item would need to be accommodated on the cake. Non-edible, plastic decorations can usually be added by you the customer once the cake is in your possession. Or we can also add non-edible plastic decorations at time of delivery.
This area is a little trickier. We do not mind to provide a grooms cake for your wedding and not the main wedding cake. But we do have a problem with people thinking that whoever made the wedding cake also made the grooms cake. We would in good faith hope that if you enjoy our cake, then you will tell your guests and friends who made it.
